MAGIQADS BAGS EXCLUSIVE MEDIA REPRESENTATION IN JUSCO MALLS! PDF Print E-mail

Retail media specialist MagiqADs Sdn Bhd, has pulled out another rabbit from its ‘Hat’ by adding Jusco Malls to their offering. Soon Swee Huat, AGM at MagiqADs says “Advertiser’s needs and requests are quite varied. The Jusco offering enables us to help brands influence an additional target market. With Tesco, Carrefour and now Jusco, we can consolidate ourselves as a ‘One Stop Retail Media Provider’. Our sales team has more than doubled to accommodate the growing volume of our media site inventory, and to provide better turn-around to our clients.”

Jusco presents an interesting target market with 31% of their shoppers aged 20-29 and 23% aged 30-39. The racial composition of their shoppers is also unique with 56% of their shoppers being Chinese followed by 36% being Malay. Fifty One percent (51%) of the shoppers record an average income of more than RM 4,000. Most of the Jusco Malls (62%) are in the market centers with 30% of their malls in other urban areas.

“It took some time to seal the deal with Jusco, but it was certainly well worth it. We will now look forward to developing parallel media platforms in Jusco, to offer a better shopper catchment to our clients and their agencies” added Soon. Jusco has a big potential in the retail media sector and with ample media capacity available within its malls. The industry landscape has changed radically over the past few years. With rising inflation, the Hypermarket chains are beginning to see a larger number of shoppers with longer dwell times. Consumers compare everything nowadays before making a decision. Influencing the customer at the last mile is everything! We can’t afford for our advertisers to spend millions on their ‘above the line’ campaigns only to have their potential consumers high-jacked at the decision making point!’

Numbers speak for themselves and given the growing proliferation of the hypermarket chains, retail media is certainly something that cannot be left ignored. “With more than 265,000 shopping transactions a day, Magiqads has access to 400,000 impressions daily. We are talking about a lot of shoppers, with huge ROIs” added Soon “and the hypermarket chains are expanding exponentially. You have to understand what happens when a hypermarket opens in an area. It becomes a hub for dining, entertainment, social interaction; it’s a lot more than just shopping for groceries. We’re offering media space in car-parks, cashier check outs with Sensormatic wraps, stand alone ambient pieces, travelators and billboards, light-boxes which comes in the form of both traditional still ones and animated formats, in addition to in-store media. The question we ask our advertisers is not “Can you afford to be there?” but rather, “Can you afford not to be there?” The relative amount of time spent by a family within a hypermarket varies from an hour to three, depending on the occasion, but this is when decisions are usually made by family members, be it be on their cereal to their brand of cola.

As consumers, we walk into a hypermarket with a list of 3 things and come out buying 6 instead. In our recent corridor survey, it was revealed that almost 94% of Malaysian shoppers don’t use a shopping list. Most of us go shopping with some idea of what we need, and we end up buying whatever that catches our eye. The fact is that when the consumer is at the aisle looking for options, your brand needs to get noticed. Being able to ‘jump out’ could make that difference for your brand.
