MICHAEL de Kretser believes that to achieve success, you'd have to fail a bit.

“Hopefully, one doesn't make the same mistake twice,” he tells StarBizWeek in an interview.

De Kretser is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Petaling Jaya-based public relations (PR) agency GO Communications, which has a high ambition of becoming Asia's largest independent PR network.

The Australian, who has had more than three decades of PR experience, certainly has a strong chance of success.

He is well known in the industry as the founder of MDK Consultants, which he helped build to become one of Asia's leading PR agencies. He started MDK (which has his initials) in Singapore in 1982, and later sold a stake to Batey Ads, which in turn sold it to London-headquartered WPP Group.
