Facebook Has 64m Active Indonesian Users

Facebook has revealed it has 64 million users in Indonesia who actively access their accounts on a monthly basis and says this number puts the country in the social networking site’s top five largest markets.

It also plans to monetize this huge market by inviting small and medium-sized businesses to advertise on the popular site. “Those are our internal figures on monthly ‘actives’ as of March,” Dan Neary, Facebook vice president for Asia Pacific, said recently.

Is The Online Media Lopsided?

YET again, the online media in Malaysia is under attack. One of the latest rebukes comes from Kelab Wartawan Muda Malaysia (KWMM) president Dzulkarnian Taib who wants the authorities to curb Malaysiakini, including shutting it down, because of its “lopsided” reporting.

Dzulkarnian is not alone in his views. Senior Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians have also lambasted the online media. Newly-minted Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for example, recently accused Malaysiakini of “spin”, “twisting statements” and “creating things which are not there”. He ominously warned the news portal that he would be monitoring it very closely.

DDB Slashes Awards Budget By 30 Per Cent

DDB, one of the region’s most awarded creative agency networks, is cutting the amount it spends on awards entries by 30 per cent next year.

The Omnicom-owned agency, which is currently Campaign Asia Pacific’s regional creative agency of the year, is to invest the funds saved from not spending on awards on improving creative work and in creative talent instead, the network’s APAC boss John Zeigler said today.

Pizza Hut Delivery Targets 10% Rise In Sales To RM500 Mil This Year

PETALING JAYA: The operator of Pizza Hut Malaysia, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd, is optimistic its Pizza Hut Delivery business will record a 10 per cent increase in sales to RM500 million this year.

QSR Brands Managing Director Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid said the Pizza Hut Delivery chain chalked up sales of RM450 million last year and enjoyed a market share of 65 per cent.
