By Roger Pe – ADOI MANILA It was the single biggest business put on the pitching block in Manila. It began at the close of last year and ended three months after with three agencies emerging victorious after 2 rounds of presentation. Six agencies were shortlisted from the original cast of eight – McCann-Erickson, Publicis, DDB, Draft FCB and incumbents Saatchi & Saatchi and Leo Burnett. Then came only three: McCann, DDB and Saatchi. Only one incumbent remained in this year’s roster of winners – Saatchi. When the verdict was handed out one agency celebrated hard as it worked hard, handing out cash. The industry is now talking who got the lion’s share of the pitch. And the winner of corporate and most number of brands is, go figure. San Miguel Corporation, Southeast Asia’s biggest F&B conglomerate, has reportedly acquired control of the business for US675 million. |
