Samsung Smartphones are iPhone's Clone: Apple
Thursday, 02 August 2012 11:58

An attorney for Apple, Harold McElhinny claimed that Samsung had two options when Apple launched iPhone in 2007: Innovate or Copy. And according to him Samsung chose the easier way and copied Apple’s products to sustain in the booming cell phone market.

McElhinny said at a patent trial, “Samsung has copied the entire design and user experience of Apple's iPhone and iPad”. Samsung denied the claim and backfired that Apple has imitated technologies such as the rounded rectangular designs of smart phones and tablets from Sony, which has been the industry standard for years.

This lawsuit, in which the CEO, Tim Cook is not scheduled to testify was filed by Apple against Samsung last year.  Apple is fighting for $2.5 billion in damages, which would be the largest patent-related verdict ever. On the other hand, Samsung is craving for the decision to be in its favour so that it can sell its Galaxy 10.1 tablet and Galaxy Nexus smart phone, whose launch was banned by the court last month.

Mcelhinny added that South Korea-based Samsung intentionally copied features like "bounce-back" during the scrolling process and a design with a black-on-black face from the iPhone. Samsung denies the allegation and counter-claims that Apple copied its iPhone from Sony.
