The General Body of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA), at its meeting held in Pattaya, Thailand, on March 18, 2012, has re-elected Pradeep Guha, representing the Advertising Standards Council of India, as the Chairman of its newly mandated Executive Committee for a period of four years. Raymond So representing Taipei Association of Advertising Agencies was elected Deputy Chairman.

In a prepared statement, Guha said, “There is a real need for an umbrella body like AFAA which represents the interests of marketers, agencies and the media to play a more proactive role in the Asian subcontinent.”

The new four-person committee comprises Bharat Avalani, Regional IBC Director, Asia Africa Middle East and Turkey, Unilever; Anthony Kang (representing Association of Accredited Advertising Agents, Singapore); Soon Dong Lee (representing Korea Federation of Advertising Associations) and Ramesh Narayan (representing the Advertising Standards Council of India).

AFAA is known in the Asia for organising the biennial AdAsia Congress. It has also helped incubate the popular AdFest held annually in Pattaya and the Asia Pacific Media Forum held biennially in Bali, Indonesia.

The coming Malaysian Media Conference (MMC) 2012 is themed as 'Digital Disclosures'. MMC will attempt to unravel the issues in terms of understanding the new connected user, optimisation of current working processes (role of technology), managing client expectations and Big Data through these exciting times ahead.
