A seasonal dip in job advertisement levels has been observed according to the recent Robert Walters' Asia Job Index.

In the last quarter of 2011 in the run up to the festive period and year-end budget reviews, total job advertisements across the region fell by 3% from Q3 to Q4 2011.

The Index tracks advertisement volumes for professional positions across the leading job boards and national newspapers in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Korea and Japan.

In Malaysia, medical positions' advertisements witnessed a 16% rise to meet the growing demand. Healthcare professionals were sought-after as the life and medical sciences sectors continued to grow.

On the whole, job advertisements in the country declined by 11% from Q3 to Q4 2011.

On a positive note, international business continued to look at Malaysia as a potential location for shared service centres.

The coming Malaysian Media Conference (MMC) 2012 is themed as 'Digital Disclosures'. MMC will attempt to unravel the issues in terms of understanding the new connected user, optimisation of current working processes (role of technology), managing client expectations and Big Data through these exciting times ahead. The Malaysian Media Conference will frame this scenario and the way forward for all thinking media practitioners... Email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
