Astro clinched 11 awards at the New York Film & Television Awards 2011 recently for its TV promotions and infomercials. The NY Film and TV award is a global industry award which recognises the world’s best work in advertising and TV, Film & Radio programs.

This year, the Astro team won an impressive 3 Silver World Medals, 1 Bronze World Medal and 7 Finalist Certificates from the New York Film & Television Awards. The Astro team walked away with 3 Silver World Medals in the ‘Copywriting: Promotion Spot’ and the ‘Station/Network ID’ categories, as well as a Bronze Medal Award for ‘Animation’. The team also grabbed 7 Finalist Certificates in the following categories; ‘Animation’, ‘Entertainment Program Opener & Titles’, ‘Entertainment Program Promo’, ‘Music Video: Low Budget’, ‘Original Music: Promo Spot’, ‘Soundtrack/Audiomix: Promo Spot’ and ‘Station/Image Promotion’. These awards bring Astro’s international award tally up to an incredible 39 awards, making Astro Malaysia a widely recognised talent globally.

Astro was also represented on the judging panel at both the New York Festival and PromaxBDA, with Vice President Network Creative; Mr Abid Hussain judging entries from all over the world. Mr Abid Hussain added, “It was a great honour to represent Astro Malaysia at these international events. Astro’s team has truly made a name for itself with its out-of-the-box creative flair, and we hope to continue captivating people and enriching their mind with our work. We want to remain inventive and innovative, and we aim to be one step ahead every time.”

Astro outdid competition from 35 different countries at the New York Film & Television Awards this year, collecting wins from every possible major awards category. The official awards ceremony for the New York Film & Television Awards 2011 will be held in Las Vegas on the 12th of April 2011.
